Barking Out

Awesome Parrot talk

I heard Winger, our pal parrot, squawking this morning to be uncovered and fed and it reminded me of a story that poppa Greg showed me earlier about a lost parrot that knew his name and address so they were able to take him back to his family. It's a really neat story and it sort of reminds us how important it is for all of us animal pals to have some sort of identification with us in case we do get lost or even animal-napped.

Enjoy the story here!

Kitten update

Aunt Aggie sent us an email update on the kitties that she rescued last week with some pictures, so I thought I would forward that along to everyone...

I took some pictures of Aphrodite (Mama cat), Atticus (the baby boy) and Cali (the baby girl)...and thought I would share them with you...

I think we named them fairly appropriately...Aphrodite (the goddess of beauty and love, she is sooooooo loveable and pretty), Atticus (because he was found in the attic) and Cali (just because she's a calico~actually a Dilute Calico).  They are all healthy, I know because I had to take Aphrodite to the vet yesterday, her milk ducts got all hard and the vets office said she may have an infection...anyway she and both babies are fine.  Atticus weighs 1.25 lbs, even though I have to force feed him.  Cali on the other hand, loves to eat...

I am really enjoying them, I couldn't tell you the last time I saw kitties this little...I'm used yo those 15-20 pounders.

They love Barry, every time I set them on his chest to get their food ready they just curl up and go to sleep.

He loves them too...he says all "puppies" are precious.

Dr Marks says Aphrodite is a year old and the babies are 4-5 weeks, they aren't more than a handful each, other than those fat tummies.

Woofer

Aunt Angela and baby kittens

It's been a little over a week since my Aunt Angela and Grandma and Great Aunt Pam left.  Aunt Angela kept saying that she was gonna stick me in her bag she got in China Town and take me on the airplane with her.  Of course she never did, but I miss her now!

She called and left our daddies a message yesterday and said that they had to call firemen out to her job.  There was a cat and kittens in the attic of their office so the fireman came and got them out for them.  Now Aunt Angela is taking care of them (with the help of some of her friends) and hopefully will be able to find them homes.  She took a couple of pictures with her cell phone so I'm going to show them to you below.

Hopefully she will be able to find them homes soon — I'm sure I will write an update about them if and when they do or if we get more pictures.

Woohoo

The Swan song of March

It's a nice bright and sunny day, but since it's a little cold, we're spending some quality time lazing around the house.  I thought I would get Poppa Greg to help me with this really short entry.  My Aunt Aggie from Lakeland, FL (Poppa Greg's sister) sent a picture of her pal Scooter so I wanted to show that off:

and then I thought (like Woohoo said on the last note) that I would add a couple of pet links, one news story and one cute video...
Also don't forget to participate in Earth Hour 2008 tonite, you can read a little more about it on our daddy's Blog.

Daddy is back and Easter is over

Whew — I was starting to get worried, Daddy Tony left to go to Florida a couple of weeks ago.  I was thinking he probably wasn't going to come back ever (not that I don't enjoy spending all my time with Poppa Greg, but...)

Anyway, as I was starting to just give up a little and focus more on things at home, Poppa Greg went out on Saturday night and returned with Daddy Tony!  We were all so happy to see him and we're all together as a family again, finally!

It was nice that the day after he got back we got to celebrate Easter.  Daddy Tony brought back Easter egg treats for me, LaDee and Woofer (altho I ended up eating them pretty much all to myself, I'm a pretty good thief).  They also took alot of pictures of us all, you can see them here on our Daddies website

Now that we are all together again, and poppa Greg will have more time to help us dogs write these, I hope we can come on more soon...We'll also try to start posting some links to cool (or bad) animal related stories.  Here's one about a little praying dog to get the ball rolling...

Left alone

I wasn't sure, but I saw Daddy Greg getting some stuff together and then on Saturday he woke up Poppa Tony early and they got a few clothes and their briefcases together, usually there are suitcases which just hurts me so bad...this time was a little different.

They had a couple hangers and Poppa Tony took all his bathroom stuff so I knew we were going to be alone, I wasn't quite so sad when I see a suit case, cause I remember back in 2001 when Daddy Greg had to work somewhere else and left every week for 6 months, but I still knew.  Thankfully our friend Sandy was here before Woofer and Woohoo knew what was up, I was still hopeful, and before I knew it they were back...It was less than 2 days.  I overheard Daddy Greg when they got back, talking on the phone and I knew it was out grandpa's 75th Birthday, but I hate when they leave us at all...I never want them to leave us at all...I remember years ago when Daddy Greg took me with him to a horrible state called Florida on a long drive with him.  I was so happy to be with him after he packed his bags, but it was so hot down there and I missed Poppa Tony so much.

Long story short... I get so nervous when I see them leaving us, I know they will be back, but our daddies are our world and we get so upset when we can't be near them, I understand that they ha ve to go away sometimes and I love that they hide their bags from us to spare our feelings sometimes, but we have a doggy sense and we always know.  We love them, but we know....

Walking as a dog in Jersey City

This morning we went on our cold morning walk with Poppa Greg at around 9:30am and I noticed that it was hard for us to cross our side street because there was so much extra traffic, so we went around the block instead.  I wandered about slowly and I heard our Poppa talking to the UPS delivery man behind our building.  He said that about an hour before then a bus had crashed into a house and he was lucky that he had been late dropping off packages this morning cause that was where he usually was  ( You can read about it here...).

I remember before our Daddies had a light put in on our corner outside there used to be a couple of wrecks a week (and there have even been some since then, there was one a couple weeks ago too) right in front of our home.

I guess my point is that it's important for us to listen to what our daddies say outside and to stay on our leash because we don't know what other people or animals might do out there.  I know sometimes Woofer starts to poop in the middle of the street while we are trying to cross and it freaks Poppa Greg out.  He knows he should have gone before we left the sidewalk or just waited another few minutes but sometimes Woofer can't help himself.  Woohoo on the other hand is always sprinting ahead and ready to run.

It really makes me mad that they won't let us sniff and pee on the electric boxes and light poles, but Daddy always reminds me that it's because in the city (especially when it's cold and damp) sometimes these have been known to kill people and their dogs.

It's hard for us to remember to be careful always when we are on the street walking because we are so excited to get to go outside.  I'm sure glad our daddies love us enough to look out for us and be careful enough for the whole family when we go out.

I'm Woohoo

I'm the newest dog in the household.  I'm extremely cute and affectionate but had a pretty rough life before I came to live with Poppa's Tony and Greg.  I weigh about 8 pounds and am black and brown and white.  I look like a terrier mix (a little Jack Russel i think) but my daddies can't tell me for sure, they say that it's fine because they love me no matter what my ethnic dogginess is.

I came to live with my new family last June 11th (Poppa Greg's 36th birthday) while he was having a party.  It was all pretty scary but everyone was very nice to me.  I didn't eat anything for a couple days because I was only used to being fed chicken from my former owner, I also didn't know how to drink water very well because I had really only been given beer.  I think that's why it is hard for me to learn things very well but I'm doing the best I can.

I really love to play with Woofer and LaDee alot, they don't like it as much as me because they get tired a little faster, but they put up with my antics sometimes.  I want to play with all of the cats too, but only Wiggum will play with me—he likes when I lick him and he sometimes licks me back and then we both curl up on the bed for a nap.

On walks I get so excited when I see people and I always hope they will talk to me and pet me.  When they finally do come up it scares me a little bit because I'm never sure if they will hit me, so I usually curl up but when I know they are nice I never want them to stop petting me.

I'm looking forward to bantering on here with my brother and sister more soon.

  Love & Licks,
Woohoo

PS...I just found out a little while ago that I love jumping and playing in the snow outside.

Our daddies went and voted today, did your family?

I saw my daddies leave earlier.  Poppa Tony had a big button on his jacket that had a woman's picture on it.  I can't read very well but LaDee told me it's Hillary Clinton.  I do know who that is because Poppa Tony went to her rally and has been talking about it (even wrote about it on our daddies' blog a couple weeks ago).  I know that they think this is an important day for a lot of states, so I hope alot of our friend's parents went out and helped them nominate someone.

Woofer

PS.  I'm just starting this blog today—I'm going to have LaDee, Woohoo and our daddies help make it look nicer soon.  Our sorta cousins, Otis and Buka, are starting a B(ark)Log too... check it out here as it gets going.
